50 Ft. Queenie began as Chicago's (and, we think, the world's) first and only PJ Harvey tribute band,* complete with a Polly-impersonating front girl in black wig. The current members, three women and a drummer-boy, have since collaborated on original songs inspired by a wide range of musical tastes from old-school punk and riot grrrl to bluesy rock and bubble-gum pop. They've got a fire and a fervency all their own. Requests for songs by the Cranberries or Fleetwood Mac will be politely turned down.
*We have just been informed of the existence of an Italian PJ tribute called Dry.
