there's a strange man in my bedroom and he's playing
art guitar
a three-note chord high on the neck that lasts for over an hour
it's making me float high over my pillow and this four-flat
i'm having an out-of-body art-guitar experience
the piece of crap is missing the high E and cannot hold a tune
but art guitar is not about tune or tempo or recognizable rhythms
you'll never know what it's about frankly
unless you're the man in my bedroom playing me to sleep
he gets up to put on yo la tengo and i am jarred
sorry if your fingers hurt but i can only sleep

not even a week since i've decided to spend more of my time at work actually working, my hands have begun shedding skin from the palms, confirming my suspicions that boredom is truly quite hazardous to the health. also confirmed this week was my theory that drinking the office coffee in the afternoon does indeed cause me to see into the future...
